STORY Please explain how your character came to Grimm High School, had they the money, academic potential, or were they sent in a relocation plan? What are their goals while at school and after school?
Frankie comes from an upper middle class family in the eastern part of Los Angeles. His father works as an architect and his mother is a therapist at a women’s prison. They didn’t send their son to Grimm high school because of the notoriety or the amazing academics, more so because Frankie was being problematic at home. He had a history of getting himself into a little bit of trouble, mostly he was concerned with his friends- the ‘scene kids’ and had made the mistake of following a few bad habits.
The Torres family consists of five children, three boys and two girls. Frankie is the baby of the family and the only one still living at home. He is closest with his brother David, who is three years his senior and who Frankie sees a role model. The other children include: Emile, Marie and Tony.
They live in a decent sized house, pool in the back yard and energy efficient cars parked in the drive. They weren’t filthy rich, but did live ‘comfortably’. He wasn’t often denied something that he truly wanted i.e.- designer jeans, and the mustang for his 16th birthday etc. He wasn’t one of those kids who could afford to shack up in Malibu at a vacation house once a month or anything.
His father was a chronic workaholic, and his mother was almost just as absent. This didn’t really bother Frankie much considering it was just how he grew up, what he was used to. He spent a lot of time with David, until he departed for college.
Frankie had ‘come out’ to his parents and family at the age of thirteen. His mother being a psychologist was accepting for the most part. Of course she had her reservations, explaining that she really didn’t want to see him go through all of the hardships that came along with being….’different’. His father on the other hand takes a much different approach. Mr. Torres ignores the fact completely. He’d admitted to feeling ashamed and burdened and then promptly suggested that Frankie leave his ‘sickening’ lifestyle out of their conversation and out of their home. Frankie agreed to these rules, not because he himself was ashamed but because he knew from firsthand experience that he couldn’t change the way a person was, only how he reacted and to keep the drama to a minimum it was easier just to respect his wishes.
Now at Grimm, Frankie feels liberated and free. He doesn’t really HAVE to hide who he is anymore, although there are definitely those bullies and homophobic people, but they don’t affect him nearly as great as his father had.
He can often be found in the student counseling center, working there most of his free hours. He works as a mentor and a student counselor obviously, a job which he finds fulfilling and gratifying. He loves listening to people, offering suggestions and trying to genuinely help them. PLAYER Ash Jordan Hart Peter Panning 2 years
