STORY Mandie Kawena had been going to Grimm High School since she was a mere freshman. Growing up, Mandie had never been what one would've called the "favoured" child. Her older sister, Lucy, was the perfect one. The blonde, pretty one. Mandie was always just an imperfect reflection of her. She tried her hardest to be as good as Lucy at school, dancing, everything, but she always seemed to failed. Growing up, especially into her teenage years, all Mandie heard was "Lucy does this", "Lucy got this award", "You should do this, Lucy does it." As a result, Mandie grew up insecure, depressed, and with extremely low self-esteem, most of which she kept to herself.
Though, Mandie is selfless enough to put her own insecurities inside and will always help out a friend in need. Even if she knows that they are lying, (and she can always tell), she will still do her best to give advice and tell people her opinion about the situation. Mandie is what some might call "delightfully blunt". She can be brutally honest at times, but only when someone needs to hear it. If someone is off in their own little world, and needs to be told that they're wrong, Mandie will be the one to say it to them.
Mandie's parallels to the magic mirror come from her personality. The fact that she tries her hardest to be like her sister, but winds up just a reflection symbolizes the mirror itself, which is just a reflection of whoever is looking at it. Her honesty is symbolic of how the mirror told the witch that she wasn't the fairest anymore, that Snow White was more beautiful than she was. Though the mirror was loyal to the witch for so long, it finally had had enough. Much like how easily Mandie lets people walk all over her. Perhaps she will finally start standing up for herself eventually as well.
With her low self-esteem, Mandie tends to kind of cling to anyone whom she deems as better than her (most people). She can be a jealous person, always wishing that she was prettier, taller, more curvy, like her sister. She tends to be around people that she wishes she could be more like. She's very easily pushed around, because of how insecure she is, and often finds it very difficult to be her own person.
